Image
Waiting on Wednesday was a daily meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and inspired Can't Wait Wednesday hosted by Wishful Endings .  It highlights what newly released books us bloggers are most excited to read. Title: A Dog's Courage Author: W. Bruce Cameron Synopsis (via Goodreads): Bella was once a lost dog, but now she lives happily with her people, Lucas and Olivia, only occasionally recalling the hardships in her past. Then a weekend camping trip turns into a harrowing struggle for survival when the Rocky Mountains are engulfed by the biggest wildfire in American history. The raging inferno separates Bella from her people and she is lost once more.  Alone in the wilderness, Bella unexpectedly finds herself responsible for the safety of two defenseless mountain lion cubs. Now she’s torn between two equally urgent goals. More than anything, she wants to find her way home to Lucas and Olivia, but not if it means abandoning her new family to danger. And danger...

Book Review: Five Ways to Fall Out of Love

Image
*I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.* There were five ways I fell in love with this book: 1. Emily Martin's writing - The flow was great, the pace was solid; I was able to put myself in her writing as a character observing everything unfold (which is my favorite thing about reading a good book).  I also liked how she split the book up into sections. 2. The characters - All of them stole a piece of my heart, which is not something that happens often.  I really enjoyed getting to know each one of them.  I related to Aubrey the most and when you're able to connect to a character in a certain way, I think that makes the book that much better (if you know what I'm saying). 3. How relatable it is - This book legit sent me back to high school... and I didn't mind one bit. 4.  The smexy scenes - Very tastefully written for the target audience (some YA books take it too far, ya know?) 5. The ending - So good; left me feeling content and happy...

Book Review: Surviving Savannah

Image
*I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.* This was one of those "do-not-disurb-me-I'm-reading" books that I seriously could not put down. There were very few things that I didn't like about Surviving Savannah,  so I'm just going to gloss over them quickly.  First, I found it hard to keep the whole Longstreet family organized in my head throughout the story.  I was constantly asking myself, "Who is this again?"  A family tree could've helped me keep them straight as I was reading, but I was reminded of who fit where at the end during the museum display's grand opening.  Along with that, it was sometimes a challenge switching between three different POV's, but they all flowed nicely. Other than that... I was obsessed.  The stories of Everly, Augusta and Lilly were hauntingly enchanting and I clung to every word.  I loved how the title ties into the story by the end and I got literal goosebumps when I read, ...

Waiting on Wednesday was a daily meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and inspired Can't Wait Wednesday hosted by Wishful Endings .  It highlights what newly released books us bloggers are most excited to read. Title: The Woods Are Always Watching Author: Stephanie Perkins Synopsis (via Goodreads): A traditional backwoods horror story set–first page to last–in the woods of the Pisgah National Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Two girls go backpacking in the woods. Things go very wrong.  And, then, their paths collide with a serial killer. My Thoughts: I love how this synopsis is short, sweet, and leaves you wanting more.  I've read books by Perkins before and haven't been disappointed so I'm very interested in this one! What are you waiting on this week?

A {Bookish} List with Alexis (3)

Image
Hi there - it's me!  I know that it's been a hot minute, but I just recently moved from the Midwest to the East Coast for my new job.  I love it so far (the facility, the animals, the staff) and I've been adjusting to my new schedule and new place.  Sadly, this also means I've taken a break from reading (almost stayed at the laundromat longer because I wanted to keep reading), but I'm planning on getting that back into the routine here shortly, too.  Enough about me, let's jump into another {Bookish} List with Alexis! A {Bookish} List with Alexis is just that - a list encompassing a literary theme of some sort.  The list can be as long or as short as you'd like... just have fun with it! This week's theme is: Popular book series that I've never read.  I feel like most, if not all of these, are on my to-read list but I haven't gotten around to them yet.  I'm really bad at keeping up with book series - for crying out loud I just finished readi...
