One Year Blogoversary & Giveaway

As of yesterday, The Reading Hideaway is one year old! It's crazy how fast this year has gone by- I started this blog on Weebly, then moved to Blogger; finished middle school and am moving on to high school; read lots of books on my to-read list and gained more that I want to read, but I guess that's what happens when you enter the book blogging world. To celebrate I am giving away a signed copy of Prom & Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg (thanks to Elizabeth Eulberg =D). Enjoy! Prom & Prejudice Cover Synopsis (via Goodreads): From the much-buzzed-about author of THE LONELY HEARTS CLUB (already blurbed by Stephenie Meyer, Lauren Myracle, and Jen Calonita), a prom-season delight of Jane Austen proportions. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl of high standing at Longbourn Academy must be in want of a prom date. After winter break, the girls at the very prestigious Longbourn Academy become obsessed with the prom. Lizzie Bennet, who attends Longbourn

Back to School Read-a-Thon

Wow. Can you believe that summer is almost over and school is just around the corner? I can't. It's gone by so fast. I got some reading done, not as much blogging as I had hoped, but maybe I will be able to pick up the slack in the next couple of weeks. Anyway, Katie over at Katie's Book Blog  is hosting a Back to School Read-a-Thon August 16th to August 20th. To get even more reading done, I decided I would accept this challenge (even though my other challenges haven't been going so hot. I have to get on top of those!) If you want to join, you can sign up by clicking on her web page link. My goal for this Read-a-Thon is to read five books. Not a lot, I know, but my schedule is busy. I don't want to set myself up for failure. (= All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks That Boy by Jillian Dodd The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter First Frost by Jennifer Estep If you guys are doing the Back to School Read-a-Thon, w

Waiting on Wednesday (2)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post that highlights books we are excited to read hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine. Revenge of the Girl With the Great Personality Cover (Yeah, Blogger still isn't cooperating with me... I think it's just my computer. Which is even worse.) Title: Revenge of the Girl With the Great Personality Author: Elizabeth Eulberg Synopsis: A hilarious new novel from Elizabeth Eulberg about taking the wall out of the wallflower so she can bloom. Beauty is a beast, and it's been making Lexi's life miserable. Her mother is spending all the family's savings on her sister's beauty pagaent "career" -- and her sister is only seven years old. Then there are the girls at school who think their appearance gives them the divine right to everything -- including the boy Lexi has a crush on. Lexi's always been on the periphery -- the girl best friend, the girl who guys never think of kissing, the girl with "the g

In My Mailbox (5)

After going on a shopping spree with my friend the other day, I realized I need to seriously go book shopping. Soon. I could live at Barnes & Noble. No lie. That would be the best house ever. (= Anyway, In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. Here is what I got this week: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter *SIGNED* What did you guys get this week? (Because Blogger isn't working for me, I sadly can't post cover images... Depressing... I know.)

More Catch Up Reviews

So, I keep reading but tell myself that I'm too lazy to write a full review. *sigh* I promise to write a full review for Shatter Me next week. Until then, here are two more short reviews. Title: Anna and the French Kiss Author: Stephanie Perkins Rating:  5 Notes: First of all, where can I find me some St. Clare?!? I really enjoyed this book because I could relate, like I'm sure most teen girls, to the 'I like him, he likes her, she likes him' relationship deal. T itle: Dash and Lily's Book of Dares Author: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan Rating: 4 Notes: After reading this, I really want to try the whole notebook scavenger hunt thing that Dash and Lily did. The only thing that upset me was Lily character wise. She didn't really seem like she was sixteen... (Sorry for the lack of cover images... Blogger is not cooperating in any way, shape or form, this morning.)

Catch Up Reviews

I have been way busier than I thought I would be this summer (although I was expecting to be busy) but that hasn't stopped me from reading (despite the fact it stopped me from blogging). So here is a quick catch up of what I have read so far. Title: Take a Bow Author: Elizabeth Eulberg Rating: 5 Notes: I'm in love with anything Elizabeth Eulberg so while I was reading this, I knew I was going to love it. Title: The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet Author: Erin Dionne Rating: 3 Notes: Cute book, but I wouldn't consider it young adult. Hamlet didn't seem like an eighth grader to me... Title: Notes From An Accidental Band Geek Author: Erin Dionne Rating: 4 Notes: After recently starting marching band, I could relate to a lot of stuff in this book and I really enjoyed it. Title: Slide Author: Jill Hathaway Rating: 5 Notes: I really hope this lady writes more because she can write one heck of a seri
